The 2026–27 regular season had not begun when this guide was checked on October 18. A table showing preseason results or the previous season should not be described as the new regular-season standings.
Check three labels
Open the official NBA standings page and confirm the season, competition stage and date. Then choose the conference or division view that answers your question. A screenshot without those labels is easy to misread after it is shared.
Compare more than the rank
Our approach is to look at wins and losses alongside games played, recent opponents and home-versus-away stretches. Two teams with the same record may have arrived there through very different schedules.
Early in the year, resist treating a few results as a settled picture. Instead, note whether the team is repeating the same strengths or problems across different opponents. That gives you something more useful to follow than daily movement alone.
Use a current source
The league link below takes you to the official table. This article explains how to read it; it is not a live standings widget and does not claim to refresh weekly. Bookmark the official page for the changing numbers and keep this guide for context.
